PR & Social Media Manager (permanent, full time)

Key elements of the role

Under the guidance of an account director, you will play a key role in delivering results for our clients in the built environment, life sciences/health, economic development and technology. You will work with different client teams to support the delivery of agreed effective client campaigns which deliver on time and within agreed budget. Your experience will include creating and delivering successful media relations, social media and digital campaigns.

Your role will include the following:

  • Working with the Perceptive team to develop and implement successful integrated communications strategies for our clients that deliver results

  • Writing and editing content for clients eg news releases, award submissions, newsletters, website copy and social media across different channels

  • Working with our social media team to develop and deliver social media strategy and content that delivers agreed results

  • Building positive relationships with clients

  • Identifying appropriate contacts and then developing and maintaining good working relationships with the media, key stakeholders e.g. community leaders to help implement client strategies successfully

  • Monitoring the public and media's opinions of clients in the media and online

  • Representing clients and Perceptive Communicators in person and online e.g. Perceptive Communicators’ website and social media channels e.g. LinkedIn pages

  • Contributing to new business activities e.g. tenders

  • Arranging and project managing events on behalf of clients and Perceptive Communicators and representing clients and Perceptive Communicators at events, including virtual events.

Essential skills

  • PR and social media experience, ideally both in agency and as a client

  • Proactive and proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong creativity, with proven track record of implementing creative and successful PR and social media campaigns

  • Digital communications experience and evidence of delivering successful digital content

  • An ability to deliver high quality effective written content and marketing material strategy over various platforms including press, websites and social media

  • An ability to deliver agreed goals and work to tight deadlines to ensure clients’ targets and expectations are met

  • Excellent writing skills, with ability to deliver high quality effective written content and marketing materials efficiently over variety of channels and ability to create compelling content and plans from complex information

  • Solid awareness of current affairs, trends and issues affecting clients and Perceptive

  • Organised work processes and project management with ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Flexible can-do attitude and a willingness to learn

  • Google and social analytics skills (even at a basic level)

  • Proactive self-starter with ability to work on own and as part of a team

  • Driving licence and access to a car for work

Work experience

Candidates will at have least five years’ communications work experience in a PR, communications and social media role.  Experience of working in an agency and delivering successful results on behalf of clients is desired but not essential.
