Ed Monaghan
I spent 40 years with Mactaggart & Mickel Group, progressing from apprentice to chief executive. While at Mactaggart & Mickel, I was recognised as Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors and led the team which won Family Business of the Year at The Herald Family Business Awards. He has been recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for over a decade.
I was also a director of City Legacy which delivered the hugely successful, transformational Athletes’ Village for the Commonwealth Games in the East End of Glasgow. Supported by Perceptive on communications from inception to sales, the Athletes’ Village won an industry beating 25 awards, including the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
I led the development and implementation of the innovative district heating systems for the Athletes’ Village and also more recently at Shawfair near Edinburgh. Ed was the inaugural chair of industry leadership group Construction Scotland for three years and chaired the Construction Industry Training Board Scotland (CITB) for ten years.
With non-executive director roles at LAR Projects, Nova Homes and Rosemount Lifelong Learning, I am also governor at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
