Lost Shore Surf Resort Named the World’s Best Surf Park
Scotland’s inland surf destination ranked #1 by global reviewer after welcoming 200,000 visitors in 2025
The jewel in Edinburgh’s adventure tourism destinations, Lost Shore Surf Resort has been named the World’s Best Surf Park, ranking number one in a global review published by leading attractions industry title Blooloop.
The ranking was compiled by surf park reviewer Mike Goldys, whose surf park résumé spans 27 wave pools across 10 countries, featuring 15 different wave-making technologies and more than 145 hours in the water. After assessing the world’s leading facilities, Lost Shore secured the top position.
Commenting on the decision, Goldys said:
“Across the surf parks I assessed globally, Lost Shore delivered one of the strongest combinations of technology, experience and atmosphere. It’s not just about the waves, it’s about creating a complete experience for the paying customer. That balance isn't always understood on the business end, but Lost Shore has nailed it.”
Located just outside Edinburgh, the 60-acre destination is home to Europe’s largest wave pool and has rapidly established itself as a benchmark for inland surfing. In its first full year of operation in 2025, Lost Shore welcomed more than 200,000 visitors, including 70,000 surfers, with guests travelling from over 67 countries worldwide. More than 10,000 guests stayed overnight in its on-site accommodation, reinforcing its status as a true surf-and-stay destination.
Founder Andy Hadden reflected on the recognition:
“It’s not every day you’re recognised as the world’s best and it is incredibly humbling. It reflects the dedication of our team, the belief of our partners, and the support of the surfing community who’ve backed us from the beginning.
“We set out to build more than a wave pool - we wanted to create a destination that brings people together through adventure, wellbeing and world-class experiences. To have that vision acknowledged internationally means a huge amount, and we’re excited to welcome even more visitors from around the world in the year ahead.”
Beyond wave performance, Lost Shore was praised for its integrated guest offering, including on-site accommodation, diverse food and beverage options, wellness facilities, sauna and year-round programming, creating what Goldys described as ‘one of the most complete surf destinations currently operating worldwide’.
As global demand for experiential travel and inland surfing continues to grow, the number one ranking further cements Scotland’s position on the international surf tourism map and reinforces Lost Shore’s ambition to lead the category globally.
